| For anti-cheating purposes all participating members will be required to download NovaCap (http://www.dpck.net/rwswar/novacap.zip) and use it for each match. Once the war.cfg has been executed all participating members in the match must press F9 to enable the recording and then press F9 at the end of the match (after the 40min) after the "gg" messages. They must name it "clan name" vs "clan name" for easy reference. Email me at jakekusters@hotmail.com with the file attached.
Alternatively, if you have Octinium and are having troubles with NovaCap feel free to use it, but the same goes for Octinium.

| NovaCap is supposedly slightly less buggy than Octinium, and is easier to use.
However, there are some problems with NovaCap and certain video cards/driver packs. A friend of mine's CS:S team had a match disputed over a problem with a NovaCap demo which was later discovered to be a glitch.
Also, I'd suggest a timeframe for submission of NovaCap demos - i.e. within an hour after a game, as word on the street is that people can doctor demos.
It's also important that net_graphpos is set to "2" and net_graph is set to "3".

| Dave_of_Defeat's suggestion for having the demo's sent within an hour of the end of the game is a good one. If you leave it, You give people the chance to 'doctor demo's' (I assume that means modify?). If you have it within the hour, You can just have a big collection of the demos which you can use for reference if need be. Or if someone makes up some bullshit that they thought they didn't need it blah blah. And just a side note to 'TH3_GR33N_M4N' - Fuck you for getting me kicked off your w!c server to fit your fat ass !! | |

| I'm not going to review matches for no particular reason unless there is an accusation of cheating. If so then I will get people to email me the novacap demo. | |

| Negative. I meant atleast you can have quick access to them if requried. You don't have to download or watch them when people send them to you, Just keep them there for Quick reference | |

| Whether or not you review the demos, I think you should insist on them all being sent to your email address immediately after games for reference, as FrantiC suggested.
This is an online competition that is offering prizes which means that people are probably more likely to "do the dodgy" than if there were no prizes.
I personally think that cheat protection is paramount. It is the responsibility of all team captains to ensure that their teams know the necessary console commands that must be used with NovaCap, that their players know how to record demos and that they know how to submit demos to you.

| Hate to throw a brick in the works but my first 4 members that downloaded & installed this program came across problems. Once recorded it showed Steam screen & then just white while 1 member couldn't even run it with his video card. Anyone else having any problems. | |

| Perhaps we should make Octinium an alternative to NovaCap, as both programs accomplish the same end. | |

Me, Even though I don't count for shit. My NovaCap recordings show the steam screen, then straight to a white screen and thats it. But then we can use Octinium.. So, Tried that and it takes a small video of the centre of the screen (shows the middle of steam) then about 4 seconds of random giant pixel images and thats it - I actualy recorded like 2 minutes of killing bots So I say both those programs are just fucked. And other people may run into the same problem.. Which sucks.

| Octinium is definitely working. Submit your demo and I'll have a look at it.
Make sure you set your resolution correctly.

| Tried NovaCap, captured about 3 frames of gameplay then went to a white screen. Octinium does not have my playing resolution (1280 * 1024). | |

| Use whichever resolution is closest for Octinium - should be 1280x960 or something similar.
Make sure you have the following console variables set also:
net_graph 3 net_graphpos 2
Basically, Octinium needs to capture your net_graph settings to know that it's being recorded from live gameplay and part of your screen to ensure no wallhacks are being used.

http://www.myfilestash.com/userfiles/frantic999/2242007_103_59.avi And I set it to 550 - 380 for 1280 x 960 (I use 1280 x 1024) and that is all it captured.

| Well, as you can see from part of the demo, it IS doing what it's supposed to. It looks to me like you were alt-tabbing out of the game on occasion.
For some reason, your net_graph isn't showing up, despite you having entered both commands in console; I'm not sure why that is. I presume it's actually showing up in the centre at the bottom in-game. Octinium's not capturing it though, and it's really important that it does.

| I messed around with it a bit. It told me the max "Top" value I could have was 444, so I used that and it managed to capture the top line of netgraph "ping: x ms".
Would this be sufficient?

| I alt tabbed to check if it was recording, And after like 1 minute, it was only up to frame 3 or 4. | |

| Octinium takes a screenshot roughly every 15 seconds. It's not supposed to play like a movie. | |
