| I know some of the official DOD:S Maps are ridiculously unfair but they seem to attract more players. Most of the time, the server is empty when it is running a non-official map and players cannot be bothered downloading them or playing because no-one is on. But that's my opinion | |

| hmmm, I tend to disagree.
The majority of servers run the official maps, if we run primarily official maps most of the time, we are no different from any of the dozens of other servers online at the time. People join those because they are low-ping (like internode) and have a high user max. There are always people who enjoy customs, it's just that nobody likes to join custom servers with dodgy, bug-ridden maps. I do agree that giving the choice of official maps is important though.
There are some custom maps which are as good as official maps (stug for example, among others), and some funmaps (SOME of the arenas, SOME aim maps) which attract users who are bored of the 8 or so official maps that constantly get replayed over and over.
The reason people all leave during certain customs is because they're extremely buggy or are just plain bad level design, leaving one side with an mg right over their spawn. The key is to audit which customs are on the server so that only the highest quality ones are available, and as suggested, allow for the possibility of official maps if that's what the users playing want at the time. Right now, there's some very dodgy maps on the server. | |

| yeah the pro dod aim maps are good but they suck when one team spawncamps - it would be so easy to just pop one of those wire fence objects across the left and right upstairs bit, would make it 100 times harder to spawncamp | |
